Hmmm. How is social media like exercise... no, not social media, e-business.

- A blog is like a marathon, not a sprint. You'll hit the wall in the first few miles if you try to go to fast or don't do training first.

- It takes repetition to become effective. And you get stronger with ever set of reps.

- Team sports are more fun than an individual workout. The camradry helps when the going gets tough. Same when you can't figure out a mistake in a piece of code and your video won't post correctly.

- Having a personal trainer show you the right way to use a new piece of equipment saves hours (days!) and injuries.

Mike: I love analogies. Thanks for the opportunity to come up with a few for you. Chris

I've found that the old Zig Ziglar quote, "You can get everything you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want" works well on Facebook. I support other local businesses, organizations and ministries on my Facebook page, which gives THEM exposure on my page, but also gives ME exposure on their page.

Cindy, thanks for kicking off the dialog and sharing an important point about the demographics and positive lift. Great point about keeping up the traditional channels. And best of all, apparently it's working! Btw, great work on Twitter, IMHO. Love your tweets.

Social Media is a large part of our marketing agenda here at Founders Insurance Group. The use of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Wordpress, and more allows us to be very transparent to not only our prospects but our client base. Social Media has allowed us to increase brand awareness at a rapid rate within the demographics we were struggling to reach. We don't rely solely on Social Media for marketing. We team it up with other traditional forms such as display advertising, radio and Web. The combination has been the key to our sales growth over the past year.
